Shirley received her RVT license in 2002 from the Mesa College Animal Health Technology Program. Thereafter, she has worked in a variety of roles in almost all aspects of veterinary medicine. From Emergency, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Oncology, General Practice, to Practice Management. Earning her CVPM was a tremendous honor and despite having so many years of leadership and experience in the field; she knows there is always room to learn and improve. Currently, she is in process of attaining her credentials in CVPP and CVBL. Over the years, the connections that she has created with her patients and their families have allowed her to provide the advocacy needed to focus on the human-animal bond. She is grateful to champion for you and treat your pets as she would her own.
When she isn’t working or studying, she enjoys maintaining her reef tank, reading, or doing crafty projects.
Originally from Brazil, I’ve always felt a deep connection with animals, which inspired me to begin my career as a kennel assistant and pursue veterinary care. I graduated as a Veterinary Assistant from PIMA Medical Institute, and I’m passionate about combining my knowledge and hands-on experience to provide exceptional care for every pet that comes through our doors. Outside of work, I love hiking and practicing Jiu Jitsu. I’m a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and have spent several years teaching the martial art. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, spending time with friends, and having fun with my Doberman Pinscher, Onyx. I’m eager to continue growing in this field and to be part of a team that shares my love and respect for animals.
I love animals and enjoy learning new things. I have dogs, fish, chickens, lizards, horses, and a tortoise named Tamale. I grew up in Durban, South Africa, where I spent much of my time adventuring and exploring. This passion for adventure continues in the U.S., where I explore with my family whenever we get the chance. From Anza Borrego to Baja, the Pacific Northwest to Moab, I’m always on the move.I love off-roading in my 4Runner, camping in remote locations, and riding my Husqvarna FE501 dirt bike. I also have two Jack Russell Terriers (Marmite and Bacardi) and one Australian Cattle Dog (Luca).In addition to my love for animals, I have a wide range of hobbies, including reading, embroidery, macramé, gardening, homesteading, and paddle boarding. I’m passionate about working with animals and providing the best care for pets who don’t have a voice to advocate for themselves.
Bea is a proud native of Chula Vista/San Diego, deeply connected to her diverse family and community. A former Communication professor, she now spends much of her time outdoors or lost in a good book. When she’s not immersed in nature or literature, she enjoys listening to music from the 1900s, a favorite pastime that complements her wide range of interests.
I’ve been working with animals since high school, and I’m known for being bubbly, caring, and always eager to help others, no matter the situation. In my free time, you can find me at Disneyland with my fiancé or relaxing at dog beach with my yellow lab, Rubicon .I’m working towards becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) by the end of 2025, with the goal of gaining more knowledge to better advocate for pets. A fun fact about me: I can’t say “three” and “tree” in the same sentence! And if you’re having trouble pronouncing my name, you’re not alone. It’s technically pronounced like “Michele” without the “M” or “E-Shell.”
Dr. Jacqueline Johnson graduated from the University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 2007. She completed a year-long internship in orthopedics and neurosurgery before returning to the United States in 2008. In 2010, she completed a Master’s at The Ohio State University in Veterinary Clinical Sciences, undertaking research on the cervical spine in dogs.
Dr. Johnson then worked in small animal practice for 2 ½ years in Columbus, OH before returning to her home city of San Diego in 2013. She has worked in both general and emergency practice since then. In 2015, she became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, specializing in Canine/Feline Practice.
That same year, Dr. Johnson’s 8-yr old Miniature Schnauzer, Jiminy, underwent a routine TPLO surgery for a ligament injury in his knee. Unfortunately, he suffered a number of complications after the procedure that left him in significant pain. This led Dr. Johnson to pursue further education in veterinary pain management, and in 2017 she passed examinations to become a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner. In 2019, she became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner.
When not working, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with her husband Robert and daughters Georgiana and Penelope. She has two Giant Schnauzers (Rebel and Riot), 2 cats (Yzma and Dinah), one tortoise (Cabbage), and 4 fish tanks.
